An in-depth art workshop in my hometown, Cobourg, Ontario

At 440 King St E, Cobourg Ontario

Fees: $350 + HST = $395.50

Alice Vander Vennen

Create a surprising and compelling piece of textile assemblage art with found objects. Allow the rich textures, brilliant colours and nuanced lines of stitched textiles to interact with the mysterious beauty of the imprinted stone, the familiar warmth of an old key, or the story carried in the remnants of an heirloom quilt.

Follow the spark of possibility to create art that is both personal and mysterious, art that speaks of roads travelled and stories found, art that becomes the keeper of stories. We will begin the process of creating an assemblage with cutting, positioning, juxtaposing these elements into a composition that speaks of a new narrative, and will finish by framing the art work in shadow box frames.

Enjoy the luxury of learning, exploring, and creating over a three-day long course. On these days set aside for immersive creative play, we’ll dive into experimenting with juxtaposing fibre art and found objects with beauty from nature, to finish a framed, stitched, three-dimensional textile assemblage.
