Saturday November 25 2017 - Sunday November 26 2017
Two day workshop in Oakville
At Oakville Art Society
From 10 AM to 4 PM
Create a framed, (10” x 10”) three-dimensional assemblage that juxtaposes paper, copper, textile, and paintings. Allow the rich textures, brilliant colours and nuanced lines of the various media to interact with the mysterious beauty of the found object, a stone or the weathered copper. Create an evocative and exciting composition that combines the most unlikely elements to build a new narrative, one that speaks of roads travelled and stories found, one that becomes the keeper of stories.
Instruction will be given in how to combine different materials in an art piece, how to create a composition using a number of components, and how to connect the various materials. Instruction will also be given in how to mount and frame the art work. Participants will be encouraged to bring and use a variety of materials. If a participant would like to work primarily with textiles, you’re welcome to bring your sewing machine.
Participants are asked to bring:
- remnants or any small pieces of fibre work material that can be cut and re-positioned into an art piece
- small stones, branches, leaves or any natural material
- sewing materials such as threads, yarn, and needle and scissors
